Discussed recently annnounced Urban Cycle Fund providing $100 million in grants over 4 years

1. Nathaniel update on Let's Go

Election is on 20 Sept (Get out and vote!). Noted that National government has proposed new money for urban cycleways effectively doubling national cycling budget, For party policies, etc check the Love Cycling page on CAN website.

1. Bank balance $428.79. This includes $50 expenditure for voucher won by Anthony Rhodes for completing NTCA survey.
2. Graeme reported he wrote letter of support for Velodrome Trust. Also Alan has volunteered to help with the Waitara bike fix-up. NPDC has invited us to a Let's Go staff meeting.

Jean Beetham and Ed Randal presented the results of their research into how safer cycle routes would influence the uptake of cycling in Wellington. Both the presentations are attached to these minutes as PDFs.

1. Survey
Graeme and Stuart co-signed $50 cheque to Bike Barn - they will top it up $50 for a $100 voucher on non-sale items.
Action: Stuart will obtain voucher from Bike Barn and perform drawing from survey respondents who provided email address.
Action: Stuart will email through brief report about survey results.

Latest news from Island Bay-CBD and Miramar/Kilbirnie project consultation
There has been a move to slow down the process, requiring approval at Council level rather than at Transport and Urban Development Committee.

Hutt Valley update
Alan gave an overall update, covering the Annual Plan, new regular Council discussions every 3 months and regular meetings with the NZTA Journey Manager (Adam Nicholls, along with James for CAW).

1. Survey results
Stuart reported that 21 people responded to survey. There was a clear pattern of responses showing that cyclists are still really concerned about road safety issues with 70-90% indicating that hazardous traffic conditions (hazardous roads, excess speed and inconsiderate drivers) remain a major disincentive against cycling.
